OXIDATION STABILITY OF INSULATING AND STEAM TURBINE OILS BY ROTATING BOMB

ASTM D2112, ASTM D2272, ASTM D4742, IP 229

DEFINITION

Evaluates the oxidation stability of new and in-service engine, turbine and insulating oils in the presence of water and a copper catalyst.

The Rotating Bomb Oxidation Tester Bath (RBOT) is a 72 liters, temperature controlled, floor standing oil bath.

Temperatures are maintained up to 160C, in 0.1C steps by an integral digital temperature controller and read-out.

The high current heater reduces the warm-up time to operating temperature.

A motor driven carriage supports 2 oxidation vessels at an angle of 30 and rotates them at 100 rev/min.

The bath is fitted with a hinged safety guard and motor cut-out to protect the operator from the rotating oxidation vessels.

Storage space, an accessory tray and the bath drain tap are accessible below the control panel.
