These methods cover the determination of the sulfated ash from unused lubricating greases or oils containing additives and from additive concentrates used in compounds, and the determination of ash between 0,001 % and 0,180 % in petroleum products.

Electrically heated muffle furnace LM4 GmbH with electronic control system and all necessary accessories for allowing materials to be burnt and cooled down cyclically EXTREMELY RAPIDLY AND COMPLETELY at closely controlled HIGH TEMPERATURES and upwarming test conditions.

Specifically designed for petroleum testing (ANALYSIS OF LUBRICATING GREASES TO ASTM D128 - NFT 60144, ASH FROM PETROLEUM PRODUCTS TO ASTM D482 - IP 4 - NFM 07045 -
EN 7 ISO 6245, SULFATED ASH FROM LUBRICATING OILS AND ADDITIVES TO ASTM D874 -
IP 163 - NFT 60143 - ISO 3987).

Housing and door made from high grade structured steel with special coating, including optional exhaust vent in the upper rear wall, connection piece prepared for installation of an exhaust fan or a catalyzer, NECESSARY INSPECTION / air-gas inlet hole, diameter 25 mm with fiber closing, in the door (optional continuous observation hole with quartz glass diameter 45 mm x 4 mm thickness), MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE 1200 C, electronic regulation and digital temperature display.

The furnace is constructed as front-loading furnace and will be delivered ready for operation, INCLUDING CERAMIC BOTTOM PLATES (optional insert boards of silicone carbide with surrounding edge for collecting residues). The high-grade environment-friendly coating is made by powder coat finish.

The heating muffle is made of silicon-carbide, wrapped around with A Class heating spirals, providing a VERY UNIFORM TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION in the chamber. This means that our furnace is heated from FOUR SIDES with heating wire built in ceramic insert, reasonably spare-priced. The heating insert protect the wire from mechanical damages.

This system results in a LONG LIFE TIME of the heating wire and guarantees an easy exchange of the heating insert. The insulation of the heating muffle is made from hardened vacuum formed fibre module with high resistance, high thermal power, low energy consumption and low thermal mass for short and quick heating up periods.

Exclusive integrative pre-selected timer for automatic switch-on, 2 or 3 set point PID controller, logic or continuous output, programmable in steps of 1 C and 1 min by means of: Program Controller, fully automatic with 4 programs (each with 16 ramps and holding times, i.e. altogether 64 programmable segments/steps) for controlled heating programs, display of actual and desired value, self-optimization prevents overshooting (pre-adjustment or automatically self-optimization), separation of control level and configuration level (prevents undesired changes), 4 switchable parameter sets, alarm signal in case of thermocouple fracture, optional serial digital interface RS 485 as an option (not retrofitable), preselective timer (setting of actual time and start time, i.e. day, hour and minute), earth leakage breaker, earth-contact female plug 230 V 10 A at the rear of the furnace, thermocouples Pt-Rh-Pt (type S), 2 m cable & earth-contact plug.

Our furnace is CE tested and approved, designed according to machine guidelines, to low voltage guidelines and if there is a pressure or vacuum vessel also according to pressure vessel guidelines. Our product standard is EN-746.
